Prior to founding International Sustainable Systems (IS2), Elon Weinstein spent seven years as a conflict specialist and post-conflict reconstruction planner at the Department of State. There he managed numerous interagency planning efforts, bridging military and development domains in areas such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti and throughout Africa. Mr. Weinstein also worked for a time at the Commerce Department and, before that, as a consultant to urban planners and architects.

Mr. Weinstein is co-author of several articles, most notably covering a new planning methodology for applying development assistance (Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding, 2007) and a model for an international criminal court (Hastings International Comparative Law Review, 1998). Elon has lectured extensively to military, government, and academic audiences on development, interagency planning and processes, African politics, and military and national security issues.

Mr. Weinstein holds a Masters Degree from the George Washington University Elliot School of International Affairs, and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Washington, where he jointly studied Political Science and Marketing Communications. Additionally, Mr. Weinstein studied international affairs and complex systems at Brandeis University and advanced Italian at the renowned Middlebury Language School.

Konrad Huber is a seasoned manager specializing in political/stakeholder analysis, conflict resolution, and community development, particularly in insecure environments.  He has extensive international experience, including long-term residence in, and frequent travel to Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.  Until recently, Mr. Huber served as Africa Team Leader for USAID’s Office of Transition Initiatives where he directed 15+ staff members in multiple country programs and managed $40-50 million a year in U.S. foreign aid.  He has over 18 years of training and experience in international development and diplomacy including previous positions with UN agencies, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the U.S. Department of State, and other organizations.  

A former International Affairs Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations, Mr. Huber has published on the challenges of peace implementation, ethnic conflict prevention, and related subjects.  Among other languages, he speaks French, Indonesian, Portuguese, and Spanish fluently.  He´s a graduate of Brown University and Harvard University´s Kennedy School.
